25th March – Parade as normal – Programme of events

The parade for March 25th will take place on our island on Friday as normal, according to an announcement by P.E. Zakynthos.
Specifically, “The following events will take place for the celebration of the National Anniversary:

On Thursday, March 24, 2022 11:00 am, pilgrimage and laying of wreaths of students at the Hero of the Fallen, with the participation of the Philharmonic of the Municipality of Zakynthos, under strict compliance with health regulations for reasons of public health.

On Friday, March 25, 2022:

1. With the sunrise, the raising of the Flag in the historic fortress of the City and the Philharmonic will enter the squares and the streets, playing national tunes, while at the same time the bells of the churches will mean joy.
2. Official Festive Doxology 10:30 p.m. (under the strict observance of the sanitary regulations.), in the Holy Metropolitan Church, in which His Eminence the Metropolitan of Zakynthos Mr. Dionysios D΄, with the priesthood of the city and the recitation of a solemn speech
3. Commemorative prayer and laying of wreaths at the Hero of the Fallen 11:00 am, under strict observance of health regulations for reasons of public health.
4. In the area in front of the Council Offices of. Zakynthos at 11:45 p.m. There will be a parade of schools of Primary and Secondary education, of the Hellenic Scout Corps and Greek Scouts and of the Security Corps, according to the established order in strict compliance with the health regulations for reasons of public health.
5. After the end of the parade, the Vice-Regional Counciller P.E. Zakynthos Mr. Aikaterini Mothoneou will be in the Council offices of Zakynthos, to greet the Authorities and the Citizens of the Prefecture “.

Ministry of Health: Measures to protect against coronavirus in parades
A strong recommendation for the use of a mask outdoors, where there is overcrowding, is addressed by the Ministry of Health, on the occasion of the parades for March 25.
Therefore, both during the arrival and during the parade, as well as during the departure, the citizens should wear a mask if there is a crowd, but in contrast to the parades, who are obliged to keep their distance throughout the parade.
However, those who parade should wear their masks before and after the parade – as long as they are crowded and not in line.
