It’s been announced that Greece has received approx. 3,477,900 visitors through its airports in June 2022. It’s a positive increase in visitors in comparison to June 2021, when only around 1,1 million visitors were recorded.
The Minister of Tourism, Mr Kikilias confirmed the details and said that the results are good. He also noted a primary objective to extend tourism seasons by opening earlier.
“We agreed with the Prime Minister in the winter that we will try to lengthen the tourist season and bring in more high-income travellers. We are living in a global crisis, and I will continue to say it because some people think that what is happening this year is business. It is not like that at all. It is the product of very hard work, important strategy and cooperation with the private sector,”
Mr Kikilias also noted that they are expecting a record number of visitors for the later part of the 2022 season, notably September. This is great news for Greece after such a difficult couple of years.
