It is not the first time Giostra Di Zante has participated in the European Giostra, however it is the first time some of our highest ranking authorities have taken part. Not only did they see firsthand how other international countries organise Giostra, but they also had the chance to strengthen ties between other countries through this event, proving how such events can not only enhance culture but also connect countries with the same ideologies.
Two leading supporters of the region and of the national government were also present during the presentation of the Banners and of the foreign delegations participating in the XX Giostra of Europe.
In her speech, the governor said that
“After the Zante Giostra, which was held in June and which was attended by all the Ionian Islands, as well as international nations, the Giostra Di Zante team continue their work here in Sulmona, like every year, since the very first year of the European Giostra. An event that will become the ambassador of our culture”, continued the Governor. Noting, in addition that such an event is the best promotion of our country and for tourism.
“It is a great celebration that directly connects our traditions with modern needs and communication with as many people and places as possible. In addition, it is a cultural springboard for the development of the economy in general and in particular of our islands. May Giostra continue to unite people and transmit culture from one country to another,” concluded the Governor.

The M.P of Zakynthos in his speech stated:-
All together we must embrace Giostra and help it to progress, because it will also be a vehicle for promotion for our Ionian culture abroad “.
The parliamentarian Aktypis said he was proud to be able to participate in the European Giostra 2022, thanking the mayor Di Piero and the president of the Giostra Cavalleresca association, Maurizio Antonini.
“I am a representative of Zakynthos with governmental party of the Greek parliament”, said Aktypis – but today I am here mainly as a friend and supporter of the Giostra di Zante and their President, Maura Kardari, who with the rest of the board of directors, has done a great job in all these years, promoting our island, in Europe and beyond. I will be here to support them during these days of the European Giostra in Sulmona. We bring with us a piece of our island and we will take back to Zakynthos the experience and mannerisms from the land of Abruzzo, Sulmona and the other countries participating in the event.
Referring to the banner, which was designed by Matina Kladi and decorated by Giannis Milesis, it shows Giostra of Zakynthos, from the blue waters of Greece, which represents the Giostra of the Rings, that takes place on our island every year, with the elements that characterize it, such as the square and the clock tower of Saint Marcos, the beautiful Zakynthian Sea Lilly in the background with the social and cultural life that takes place of the island and in the foreground the winner of this year’s Giostra Di Zante, Panagiotis Faraos.
It is also worth noting that Zakynthos has become European Champions twice and Zakynthos Informer wish our team every success this year!
