Zakynthos once again represented by Giostra Di Zante, triumphs with its representation and delegates. Here are some videos from this year’s European Giostra.
La Giostra is the biggest event in summer that takes place in the Italian village of Sulmona.
The 20th edition of the Knightly Giostra of Europe many representatives participate which include European nations and 14 beautiful villages around Italy. This year the Greek delegations were from Zakynthos and Kithera. Each team will be represented with one of the seven towns or districts of the city competing in this year’s Giostra, in particular: Zakynthos will participate together with the district of Porta Iapasseri and Anversa, who will run the race for the ring with the knight Alberto Liverani. The island of Kithera with the sestiere of porta Manaresca and Villalago, defended in the field by the knight Alessandro Lombardi.
The delegations were officially welcomed by the city on Saturday 6th of August at 10, in the council hall of the municipality for the traditional exchange of gifts and the presentation of the banners, created by the winners of the 2019 edition. Saturday, the XX Giostra of Europe and the XIV Giostra of the most beautiful villages in Italy: at 20.00p.m the historical procession commenced, starting from Piazza Tresca, while participants arrived in the Piazza Maggiore, with the competitions for the conquest of the Banners. Today, will be entirely dedicated to the performances of the guest delegations and we wish Zakynthos all the best
