The Port Authority of Kefalonia was informed about a boat sinking with a passenger inside in the marine area one nautical miles from the tourist harbor of Likathari Lixouri. Immediately the port police with their, “POSEIDON” rushed to the scene where a 57-year-old was picked up and then later transferred to the port of Lixouri. A member of the Port Authority dived into the sea to reach the man, rescued him and then drove him to shore to give him first aid. The 57-year-old was then taken by an ambulance vehicle of the EKAB and was first transferred to Hospital of Manzavinateio and then to the General Hospital of Kefallinia for observation purposes. The incident did not cause any marine pollution, while a preliminary investigation was carried out by the relevant Port Authority.
