Changes in Ferry boat price and ticketing.

The use of “eco friendly petrol” by shipping companies alone has raised ticket prices. This fuel is now being used by ships around the country in an effort to combat environmental damage.

Levante Ferries.

Levante Ferries started its services from Zakynthos to Kyllini in 2014. Ticket prices were same as the other companies operating at that time. For example € 28.50 for a passenger car and € 57 return. The company then decided to offer something better to the local community. Discounting set the price of the round-trip ticket to 51 euros. With the change due to “eco friendly petrol” it has been able to maintain a discount, where prices were as close as they were in 2014. The round-trip ticket now costs € 59, with the single ticket rising by two euros.

Company spokesman Yiannis Pilarinos said: “It dropped a significant burden on our customers, but it also dropped a very heavy burden on the company because of the cost of petrol. It is a difficult year for all companies, with fuels reaching the prices of diesel fuel. ”

Full details on tickets

Another very important issue that Mr Pilarinos mentioned is the changes in the way ferry tickets are issued. Passengers are now required to provide other details at the ticket offices, in particular stating their nationality, gender and date of birth. As Mr. Pilarinos explained, this is the new legislation for companies operating over 20 miles. So tickets will now be requested at the ticket office and additional information will have to be provided. Hence,  the company spokesman urges passengers to allow plenty of time for the purchase of their ticket beforehand and avoid purchasing a ticket shortly before departure. Passengers can also book their tickets online in advance.
