Coronavirus:- Greece and Zakynthos updates.

Easter restrictions.

Necessary clarifications from the Deputy Minister of Civil Protection and Crisis Management for the days of Easter.

“We must stay at home for prayer – our churches will be closed to the faithful during Easter,” said Undersecretary of Civil Protection and Crisis Management Nikos Hardalias, during the regular, daily briefing at 18:00.

Beyond the decisions of the State, the Holy Synod urges all faithful to understand that this year’s Holy Week and the Resurrection will be practised at home. ” We all need to realize the critical times we are facing, we must stay at home, dedicated to home prayer “, stressed today the Metropolitan of Nafpaktos and Agios Vlasios Hierotheos, spokesman of the Church of Greece, in a morning news program on television.

Church’s decision

In fact, especially for the circular of the Permanent Holy Synod, which states that the temples will be open 11.00-13.00 on the days of Holy Week and 13.00-17.00 on Good Friday, two (2) hours after the dismissal of the Holy Sequences, he pointed out that “This is a purely restrictive measure linked exclusively to paragraph 6 of the inter-ministerial decision: ‘It is permissible to continue the administrative functions of places of religious worship’ and concerns only for the priests and the necessary staff of the Holy Temples.”

Emphasizing, “Under the current circumstances, the Holy Synod does not urge any believer to come to church.  The churches are not open to the faithful and this is the meaning of the “closed doors” of the Holy Communions”.

Measures extended.

Also the measures in regards to traveling restrictions have been extended until the 27th of April, 2020. Fines have increased double for those who break the measures. From the 150 Euros it is now 300 Euros if found not adhering to the restrictions.  Your number plates will be removed and you will be told to back to where you came from.  This is to stop any unnecessary “Road Trips” during the Easter break or to enjoy a quick “get away” to other areas apart from your permanent residence. Note, you still must have the necessary documentation if you are planning to travel.  E1 taxation declaration proving your permanent residence, travel document for circulation and identification.  If it is for medical reasons you also must have with you the necessary documentation showing appointment and doctor’s phone number. The idea of staying home unless absolutely necessary is stressed by all.

Coronavirus in Zakynthos.

After the 6th confirmed cases of covid-19 steps have been taken totrack the source.

According to sources 7 samples have been sent to Pasteur for testing covid-19. All have proven negative.

Out of the samples 2 of them concern the relatives of the 30-year-old woman who recently tested positive for the virus. The two live together with the 30 year old in the same house located in a village on the island. This means that tracking the source is still in question.

Finally, 4 more new samples have been sent and the results will be announced possibly later today.
