Greece, Tuesday, April 21,
Two further deaths have been reported this morning. The first, a 75-year-old man with an underlying illness passed away in Athens’ Evangelismos Hospital.
The second, which has shocked most, especially the front line workers who worked so hard to save him, was a 35-year-old man from Thessaloniki.
The shock of his death has left staff numb as he had no underlying health issues. Reports say that the man had mild symptoms of COVID-19 but a temperature that kept over a few days. He was taken to hospital on Friday for treatment. However, his health rapidly deteriorated. and passed away. This case being the youngest person to die of coronavirus within Greece.
The total number of deaths in Greece now stands at 119.
Despite the sad news, the data in the last few days has been very encouraging, but it is critical that people continue to follow the government’s instructions. As we can see the virus does not just strike the vunerable groups. It is critical we adhere to what our scientists and our Government’s advice or the country could suffer a second wave of the virus and a return to increasing infections and subsequent deaths.
