Greece will be taking part in Earth Hour for 2019, celebrating 11 consecutive years, the first time they took place was in 2009.
The ministry of Environment and Energy is also taking part and is urging people to turn off lights for the 60 minutes, between 8.30 and 9.30 p.m.
Athens International Airport will be taking part, by turning off the landing lights on one of the runways. They will also be reducing the lighting in specific areas, plus showing the Earth Hour official video to both passengers and employees to increase awareness.
As far as the City of Athens is concerned, Lycavettus Hill will be in darkness as will the Town Hall of Athens. The Acropolis, along with other monuments around the world, will also remain in darkness.
