Huge fires in Evia, Messinia and East Mani – Settlement evacuations.

In Evia, the fire broke out in a forest area in the area of Myrtia in the municipality of Mantoudi-Limni, Agia Anna. There was an order to evacuate the settlement of Retsinolakkos.
There are 62 firefighters operating in the area with 3 groups of pedestrians, 24 vehicles and three aircraft.
A fire broke out today in a forest area in Kastania in the municipality of Eastern Mani, Laconia. An earlier order to evacuate the settlements of Kastania, Salagoudi, Agios Nikolaos and Kokkina Louria, according to the fire department.
55 firefighters with two groups of pedestrians and 21 vehicles are fighting to bring the fire under control. A helicopter and two aircraft assist from the air.
In the previous hours, the fire that broke out yesterday in a forest area in Vasilitsi, Messinia, was rekindled. In this case, too, it was deemed necessary to evacuate for precautionary reasons the settlements of Vasilitsi, Memi, Agios Georgios and Livadakia, according to the fire department. A relevant message was also sent from 112.
“There is a big fire in the Vasilitsi area and it has passed through houses, but we still do not have a picture as to whether damages have been caused, since the areas have been evacuated”, said the deputy governor of Messinia to media sources.
There are 74 firefighters operating in the area with 22 vehicles and two helicopters and four aircraft are throwing water.
Finally, a fire broke out earlier today in the Asclepieion in Kos and an order was given to evacuate the specific settlement. The firefighting operation involves 22 firefighters with 11 vehicles and a helicopter from the air.
