A recent study by Uswitch.com looked at the benefits of nature and spending time outdoors and in nature itself and the effects, it has. The study focussed on Europe and its many destinations, with stunning natural environments.
The research looked at what each country had against specific parameters such as forests, flat areas, hiking trails, the richness of wildlife and other significant factors. Overall Greece came 15th in the study. The positive draw for Greece was its numerous islands, turquoise seas and the many places people can paddle, sail and swim, as well as the thousands of miles of beautiful coastline. Another positive factor was the high level of wildlife, with a total of 1128 species (excluding fish) being recorded in the country – making it the third-highest in Europe for wildlife! Greece also got a good rating for hiking and walking trails, and 22.44 per cent of forest coverage across the whole of the country. Arid areas in Greece and high mountainous areas saw it drop to the 15th position, however.
It’s an interesting study, and we all know whatever studies take place, Greece is an incredible place for those who love nature and for those who choose to explore and live in the country.
