Mutations sweeping across the country – Where the 373 new cases are located

A total of 2,047 positives have been identified for the presence of B.1.1.7 / UK lineage mutation (Variant VOC_202012) (Table 4) and 51 positive for the presence of B.1.351 / South Africa mutation (Variant 501.V2) since the start of operation of the National Genomic Surveillance Network for SARS-CoV-2 mutations to date

Coronavirus mutations are sweeping the country, as according to the announcement of the National Genomic Surveillance Network, 373 new strains were detected.

 

From the genomic analysis in 400 selected new samples concerning the period 13 February to 8 March 2021, in the Regions of Central Macedonia, Epirus, Thessaly, Crete, Attica and the Regional Units of Lefkada, Fthiotida and Rhodes, 371 samples with species of interesting mutants were found. (Variants Of Concern – VOC) and 2 samples with the strain under investigation (Variant Under Investigation – VUI) B.1.1.318. Of the 371 samples with VOC strains, 368 were found with the mutation B.1.1.7 / UK lineage (Variant VOC_202012) and 3 samples with the mutation Lineage B.1.351 / South Africa (Variant 501.V2)

In addition, the genomic analysis was completed in 139 selected new samples for the period December 21 to January 18, 2021. The samples come from the Attica Region. From the control of 139 samples, a total of 16 strains with variants of concern emerged. Of the 16 strains, 12 were found with the B.1.1.7 / UK lineage mutation (Variant VOC_202012) and 4 samples were positive for Variant with deletion in S Gene.

 

A total of 2,047 positives have been identified for the presence of B.1.1.7 / UK lineage mutation (Variant VOC_202012) (Table 4) and 51 positive for the presence of B.1.351 / South Africa mutation (Variant 501.V2) since the start of operation of the National Genomic Surveillance Network for SARS-CoV-2 mutations to date. The 51 positive strains for the presence of mutation Lineage B.1.351 / South Africa (Variant 501.V2) are all domestic, of which 43 come from the Peripheral Unit of Thessaloniki, 2 from the Peripheral Unit of Ioannina, 5 from the Region of Attica and one from the Region of Crete.
