Coronavirus: 18,834 new cases today in Greece – 101 dead and 672 intubated.
The National Organization of Public Health (EODY) announced on Monday afternoon (17/01) that the laboratory confirmed new cases of coronavirus are 18,834, of which 45 were detected after checks at the country’s gates.
The total number of cases amounts to 1,679,705 (daily change + 1.1%), of which 49.8% are men. Based on the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 473 are considered to be related to travel from abroad and 2,148 are related to an already known case.

The new deaths of patients with COVID-19 are 101, while since the beginning of the epidemic a total of 22,087 deaths have been recorded. 95.1% had underlying disease and / or age 70 years and older.
The number of patients treated by intubation is 672 (59.5% men). Their median age is 65 years. 79.2% have an underlying disease and / or age 70 years and older. Among intubated patients, 549 (81.7%) are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and 123 (18.3%) are fully vaccinated. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 3,904 patients have been discharged from the ICU.
The admission of new Covid-19 patients to the hospitals of the territory is 472 (daily change -16.16%). The average seven-day admission is 555 patients.
Performing a test
In the last 24 hours 11,840 molecular tests and 114,417 rapid tests were performed. In total 126,257 the positivity is estimated at 14.92%.
