“For the tuition centres, there is still no decision of the Commission for reopening. The decision concerns only school units. There is no suggestion and I emphasize it “, the Minister of Education pointed out in her statements on the ANT1 television station.

Regarding the nurseries: “The relevant announcements will be made. So far they go together with the kindergartens. So the perception is that they will operate, too. ”

As for the all-day schools, she stressed: “The all-day schools will function normally. Everything that has to do with primary education will work normally from Monday 11/1. The teachers are invited to appear on Friday to take the necessary actions “.

Vaccinations for teachers with priority

In regards to when the teachers will be vaccinated, the Minister of Education announced that there will be a priority, as they will be vaccinated before the general population. As she mentioned, priority will be given especially to teachers with underlying illnesses.

So far it has not been decided when the students of the Secondary Education will re-enter their classes. The issue is expected to be reviewed, along with the health data that will have emerged next week, by the committee of experts.

At the same time, this week a reduction of the material for the Panhellenic Exams 2021 is expected to be announced. “It was a difficult year”, the minister commented.

No suggestion for universities

The committee of experts has not made any suggestion to the Ministry regarding the universities, in order to change the way they operate. So, at the moment, no change or decision is expected for lifelong learning.

However, the minister informed that a special circular for the qualifying exams will be issued soon.

Return to the living operation of the structures of Primary Education and Special Education

As it became known from yesterday, Monday, on the 11th of January, the kindergartens, the primary schools and the Special Education schools will reopen.

There will be provision for differentiated arrival and departure times, per group of departments, where this is possible and necessary (with the exception of cases of mass transfer of students). Thus, there will be a possibility for different start and end times of the courses. These, so that there is no overcrowding of students, parents and guardians.

In addition, more than one school unit entrance will be used where they exist.

Furthermore, an online platform will be “opened”, through which teachers will be able to request a free examination for coronavirus and will be informed of their appointment by SMS for the nearest of the 386 checkpoints throughout Greece. As Mrs. Kerameos noted, the appointments will take place from 14:00 to 17:00.

This measure is voluntary for teachers, of a purely preventive nature and is related to the possibility of having an epidemiological picture from the schools.

In addition, EODY will conduct sampling tests in schools.

As it is logical, all the precautionary measures already taken and the instructions of EODY are maintained in force, such as: the obligatory use of mask indoors and outdoors, the use of antiseptics, the meticulous cleaning, the special measures for adapted operation of canteens, computer labs, musical instruments etc.
