According to the valid Marine Traffic, the Cypriot-flagged research vessel SW Cook is located in the Ionian Sea and is said to be conducting seismic surveys for hydrocarbons in Unit 10 of the Greek EEZ (delimited after the relevant Greece-Italy agreement), which belongs to Greek Petroleum.

There are strong indications of a large hydrocarbon deposit in the area.
