Greece:- Travelling around… What restrictions are valid.

Travelling around Greece:-  New measures have been announced by the government, which also affect movements from prefecture to prefecture!

Chaos has prevailed in recent days due to the Omicron mutation in our country, with the government announcing new measures.

As the Minister of Health announced the measures will have taken effect, however, what is the big change that will be implemented by moving out of the prefecture?

Travelling outside the prefecture: What will change and needs attention.

Those who are fully vaccinated or have recently recovered from covid can move freely as long as they have a vaccination certificate or disease certificate and of course an identity document (identity card, driver’s licence, passport etc.).

Unvaccinated citizens in order to board Public Trabsportation and move outside the prefecture need to have with them a negative test statement (rapid or molecular) that they have performed in a diagnostic center at their own expense.

It goes without saying that all travellers must wear a protective mask throughout the trip. The big change here is that the use of a high protection mask is mandatory (KN95, FFP2). Alternatively, one may wear a double surgical or cloth mask. One mask will not suffice!

Masks are not required to be worn by children under 4 years of age and persons for whom the use of a mask is not indicated for medical reasons, always with the necessary medical documents proving this.

Finally, there are no restrictions if you are using your own car. The only case of using a mask is that the passengers are not first and second degree relatives or spouses and cohabitants. In other words, if friends are travelling with you, a mask is needed.

Up to five (5) passengers in addition to the driver in private passenger vehicles (EIX) up to seven (7) seats are allowed.

Exceeding the passenger limit is allowed only if the vehicle is driven by a) exclusively parents with their children. In case the children are adults, the confirmation of this assistance is made by presenting a police ID or other official document (passport or driver’s license) or b) a person who needs help from a second passenger to move.

Vacation measures for the unvaccinated.

Specifically, the decision stipulates that rapid tests for unvaccinated are now mandatory in both hotels and rooms for rent.

The decision emphasizes that “Especially with regard to tourist accommodation, the residents enter after a mandatory demonstration at the entrance:

[a] vaccination certificate, [b] disease certificate,

[c] Negative diagnostic test for COVID-19 coronavirus (PCR or rapid test)

Minors from four (4) to seventeen (17) years old may, alternatively, submit a negative self-diagnosis statement (selftest).

Moving outside the prefecture: That will be the fine.

If the vaccination certificate, the certificate of illness or a negative test is not presented, the passenger may not travel by means of transport.

In addition, all other sanctions for non-compliance with public health measures apply.

Note that in the coming days the case of public transport will be discussed, such as buses, metro, electric, etc., with the experts proposing the extension of the same, strict measures there as well.

The fines for all Public Transportations are as follows: Anyone who attempts to issue a fake vaccination or illness certificate will be fined 5,000 euros.
For non use of mask ( which is mandatory) 150 euros.
