Coronavirus: New negative record with 40,560 new cases, 76 deaths and 627 intubated.
The exponential spread of the coronavirus continues for another twenty-four hours, with the Omicron mutation leading the fifth pandemic wave in the country, while concerns about the resilience of the health system intensify.
Today, Friday, December 31, EODY announced a new record from the occurrence of the pandemic in the country with 40,560 new cases.
The tough pandemic rates remain high, with 76 deaths, 627 intubations and a large increase in new hospital admissions.
Specifically, EODY announced:
“The new laboratory-confirmed cases of the disease recorded in the last 24 hours are 40,560, of which 32 were identified after checks at the country’s gates. The total number of cases amounts to 1,210,853 (daily change + 3.5%), of which 50.3% are men.
Based on the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 231 are considered to be related to travel from abroad and 1,386 are related to an already known case.
The new deaths of patients with COVID-19 are 76, while since the beginning of the epidemic a total of 20,790 deaths have been recorded. 95.2% had underlying disease and / or age 70 years and older.
The number of patients treated by intubation is 627 (60.0% men). Their median age is 64 years. 79.7% have underlying disease and / or age 70 years and older.
Among intubated patients, 541 (86.28%) are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and 86 (13.72%) are fully vaccinated.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 3,759 patients have been discharged from the ICU.
The admission of new Covid-19 patients to the hospitals of the territory is 439 (daily change + 4.28%). The average seven-day admission is 359 patients. The median age of cases is 36 years (range 0.2 to 110 years), while the median age of death is 78 years (range 0.2 to 106 years).
