The European Union’s Aviation Safety Agency has issued a warning about the possible fall of debris from a Chinese missile in 7 southern European countries.
According to the announcement, the Long March 5B rocket during its uncontrolled re-entry into the atmosphere, between July 30 and 31, will disintegrate and its debris will likely affect Greece, Bulgaria, France, Italy, Malta, Portugal and Spain.
Rockets that launch satellites and other payloads disintegrate upon re-entry into the atmosphere. However, in some cases their debris does not burn completely and reaches low heights or even the ground.
The specific rocket had taken off on July 24 and is now in the process of crashing.
As is often the case with such rockets, they are destroyed during entry into the Earth’s atmosphere, however this rocket is 30 meters long and weighs 22 tons, so there is a chance it won’t break into more smaller pieces.
As you will see in the map that has been published, IF the extremely low impact chances are confirmed, it is more likely to fall somewhere in northern Greece or Crete
