Johnson & Johnson begins delivering vaccines to the EU

From the first day the vaccinations started until today, 2,212,000 vaccinations have been carried out. 1,468,000 citizens, (14%, have been vaccinated with one dose), and 743,000 with two doses, (7%), he said.

Regarding the prioritization, he said. From April 10th, the dating platform for the age of 60-64 has been opened for all vaccines and not only for AstraZeneca. On April 16, the platform will be opened for citizens suffering from high-risk diseases, aged 18-59, and the other groups will gradually follow. The opening of the platform for people with underlying diseases will be gradual depending on the disease, said Mr. Themistocleous.  This will start from April 16 to April 19. With this group added, it includes 800,000 of our fellow citizens.

He added that on Wednesday, April 21, teachers and the 55-59 age group will be able to make appointments. The dating platform will open on Saturday, April 24 for people aged 50 to 54, and in June he estimated that younger people will be vaccinated.

Referring to the AstraZeneca vaccine and whether there has been a decrease in vaccination attendance, he said.  There is no significant change but stressed that “it is justified to have a hesitation. But compared to other EU countries, “we are at a better level and confidence in the vaccine will slowly be gained.”

Finally, Mr. Themistocleous, said that if there are increased deliveries. It is possible that private doctors and pharmacists will join the vaccination operation, if required. He also hinted that announcements on this issue will be made in the coming days. .
