Four metro stations in downtown Athens will be closed for several hours, Metro and Proastiakos lines to/from Airport will be disrupted during the two-day visit of German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Greece.

Metro to/from Athens Airport will halt at
Proastikos train will halt to Koropi and not at the airport 5:15 pm – 5:45 pm on Thursday and 3:45 pm – 4:15 pm on Friday.
More changes in Proastiakos schedules are not excluded.
At the same time, more than 2,000 police officers will be deployed in the city center in order to secure that the Chancellor will safely move around: to Prime Minister’s office on Thursday, to President’s Mansion and the German School on Friday.
Main roads will be closed to traffic on and off as Merkel’s limousine and entourage will tour Athens.
Greek authorities have banned public gatherings and marches in the center of Athens after 6: pm Thursday. The protest by far-right Golden Dawn at Evaggelismos has been reportedly cancelled. however, the protest by leftist groups at the Athens Univesity will be held as scheduled.
Angela Merkel arrived at 5:20 pm, is now heading to downtown Athens where she will meet with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras at 6 pm.
She will depart 4:30 on Friday.
Then Greeks will be allowed to enjoy free traffic and public gatherings….
