The Greek tourism ministry is currently working on a proposal for a safe entry protocol for tourists coming to Greece, once the arrival of tourists is permitted. Restrictions will be in place and introduced in a phases for this year’s season
Deputy Tourism Minister Manos Konsolas revealed the government’s plan during an online TV programme devoted to tourism, held on Sunday night.
The normal tourism season that Greece is used to will hopefully kick in later in the year but all eyes are on what is forecasted for a normal return.
The forecast that the tourism industry will “restart” in 2021 and that the ministry was working out a plan for “repackaging” Greece’s tourism product under the new conditions caused by COVID-19.
Konsolas also referred to a safety net was being put in place for all tourism activity, such as reducing taxation rates, and unveiled that announcements will be made soon.
He also suggested that the development of the tourism theme could be a way forward, as well as establishing Greece as an international centre for tourism education and training.
