Due to economical situation in Greece, from 2010, a lot of vehicle owners unable to pay road tax have demobilized them by handing back, to the tax office, their number plates.
The FinMin have come up with a (part) solution, which pleases everyone. Money gets in the coffers and use of the vehicle.
The so-called tax-by-the-month, which was also in-force in 2018.
What does this mean? For those who regain their vehicles number-plate for one month will have to pay 2/12th of the annual tax, 4/12ths of the annual tax will be paid for three months, and for those who regain their number-plates up to the end of the year, the tax to be paid is equal to the sum of the remaining months plus 2/12th.
The relevant amendment has been submitted to Parliament.
