An announcement by OAED with support measures for workers and businesses affected by the bankruptcy of Thomas Cook.
The OAED, as a central business arm in the fight against unemployment, responds rapidly and effectively to developments in the labor market, actively participating in the Government’s effort to immediately strengthen and protect the workers and businesses affected by Thomas’s bankruptcy.
Working closely with the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, it is making immediate arrangements and actions aimed at supporting early redundant workers in partnership with Thomas Cook and in helping affected businesses to recover and avoid layoffs. Particularly:
From 100 to 80, the number of working days required to pay unemployment benefits to business workers affected by the bankruptcy of Thomas Cook is reduced.
It extends the total time of payment of the unemployment benefit by one month to the dismissed of the affected businesses.
A specific job retention program for affected businesses is immediately drawn up.
The new OAED is close to the employee and the business and with fast, targeted and decisive steps ensures the fundamental right to work.
