Monday 16th through til Thursday 19th of December 2019, Zakynthos will celebrate her Patron Saint, Saint Dionysios. The official memorial celebration which is also known as Saint Dionysios’ name day.

17:00p.m.
The official Ascension by the Archbishop of Zakynthos Dionysios, from the Holy Monastery to the Holy Temple. Immediately afterwards, a Doxology will follow. A ceremony of the sepulchre of Saint Dionysios within the Temple. The Grand Vespers will then follow.

Readings from Holy Scriptures in honour of our Saint.
07:30 am
The Orthodox Sequence will begin. The performance of The Divine Liturgy takes place.
11:00 am
(depending on weather conditions) The Divine Liturgy of St. Dionysios will take place within the town. The Litany parade will go through Zakynthos town. ALL roads closed for the Litany prior to the event.
Thursday 19th December, 2019
The Service within the church will begin for preparation of the Saint’s return to His Holy Chambers.
08:30 am
The commemoration of St. Dionysios’ sepulchre ends within the Holy Temple.
11:00 am
Priests will then place Saint Dionysios in the Holy Larnaca.
The Zakynthian Philharmonic marching band will announce the celebrations, playing along the coastal avenue.
The Sacred Procession (Litany), will be organized outside the Temple. A commemoration event by the 117th Air Force Battle Wing, the Zakynthos Municipal Philharmonic marching band and representatives from Alykes and Artemisia Municipalities, Scouts and Guides, Civic Offices and other Delegations.
The ecclesiastical script readers will be read by the Holy Archdiocese. Head of the House of Thrones, Panagiotis Kapodistrias, Commissioner-General of Hierarchs and Association Ambassador Charalambos Kypriotis
