Shipwreck.. Port Authorities lift ban with restrictions, more details to come.

Saturday morning Zakynthos Informer was told that boats were still entering the cove and that companies were letting down passengers onto the beach. As we all know, over the last few days we had reported that the beach was open, as many boat owners and companies were starting to let their clients down on the beach area but only to find out that the ban was still in progress and that what they were actually doing was illegal. Even after us reporting as such some were still going against the ban. It seems now that it is “official” that the cove can be approached but with certain restrictions.

Zakynthos Informer got in contact with the port authorities yesterday morning by phone, in which it was confirmed that the area was open to the public and that the necessary documents had been approved with an approval number ΑΔΑ 65ΡΦ4653ΠΩ-Φ53.

However, after we researched the above number through the internet for publication, we were unable to see the document and find out what was the final decision and what was expected from those who landed at navagio beach. In other words what are the restrictions?

After talking to a few tour operators this morning it seems that they were able to let down their passengers with a limited time of 45 minutes. As we still have not seen the above approval number printed in the Government’s Gazzette we were concerned that once again the area was open to illegal activities, so Zakynthos Informer took to the Port Authorities to get confirmation. As it is stated the above proposal has been issued and the decision has been accepted by the authorities, as it is the weekend the papers are closed, unfortunately we were not able to get the necessary document to read and find out exactly what the restrictions are, we did ask for a copy from the Port Authorities which were were denied as they have sent the necessary information to be printed. As the Port Authorities explained the cove is not “OPEN” as such, it is not a free for all and that there will be strict restrictions on allowing people to venture onto the area. For now these are the details that we have been given but as of Monday we are sure to have more information and the exact restrictions each person has to abide to so as to enjoy Zakynthos’ shipwreck in a safe environment.

We would like to point out as soon as the above document mentioned is printed in the Government’s Gazette we will update and inform you all of the restrictions, til then Monday is just around the corner.
