The road in Kryoneri is closed for 15 days

After the sudden failure of the stone retaining wall of the provincial road that passes through Kryoneri, about 50 meters upstream of Panagia Kryoneritissa ,that occurred on Sunday (9/1). A decision was made by the Police Directorate. The road will be closed for 15 days and the traffic of vehicles will be carried out from Akrotiri, through Filikon street. A construction signal will be installed that will allow the rotational change of the direction of the traffic in one lane that will be available at the place of execution of the works.

In the relevant announcement of EL.AS. It is reported:

“The traffic of any vehicle is prohibited from the height of the old aqueduct until the junction of the provincial road Zakynthos – Planou with the municipal road that leads to the hill of Bohali, from 15:00 on 10-01-2022 and for period of fifteen (15) days. Until 25-01-2022. The traffic of the vehicles will be carried out from Akrotiri, through Filikon street with the installation of a construction sign that will allow the rotation of the traffic direction in one lane that will be available at the place of execution of the works “ .

K. Mothoneou: “Our first and main concern is the safety of the citizens”

The Deputy Regional Governor of Zakynthos Katerina Mothoneou noted:

“The response of the Regional Unit of Zakynthos and the Technical Services in response to the sudden failure caused by the stone retaining wall of the provincial road that passes through Kryoneri, about 50 meters upstream of Panagia Kryoneritissa, is immediate. Early in the morning we proceeded with the necessary actions for the immediate start of the restoration works and at the same time all the necessary measures are taken in order for them to finish as soon as possible. As in any natural disaster, our first and foremost concern is the safety of the citizens and the immediate restoration of the damages with substantial interventions. We ask for the understanding of our fellow citizens as until the completion of the works it will not be possible for the traffic to pass through this point “.
