The alarm bell rang for the Deputy Minister of Civil Protection and Crisis Management, Nikos Hardalias, for the outbreak of coronavirus cases last week.
As he mentioned, within a week, the cases in Mykonos quadrupled, doubled in Rethymno, almost tripled in Heraklion, more than fivefold on the island of Ios, more than doubled in Santorini and sevenfold in Paros.
These areas are set to an orange level of increased surveillance, and unvaccinated catering and tourism workers are now obligated be tested twice a week.
According to the new data, the epidemiological map of the country is as follows:
The Regional Units of Grevena, Ioannina, East Attica, North Athens, Piraeus, West Athens, Central Athens, West Attica, Larissa, as well as the Municipalities of Salamina and Paros are rising to the orange level.
The Peripheral Units of Karditsa, Lassithi, Messinia, Andros, Achaia, Kozani, Tinos, Preveza, Zakynthos, Syros, Lesvos, Thessaloniki, Thesprotia, Arcadia, Kefallinia, Lefkada, Etolokaaron, Lefkada, Etoloakarna, Leo , Milos, Serifos, Antiparos and Chios. Have been moved to Yellow level. We remind you that just a few days ago our Island was classed green and stable.
The statistics now stand as “increasing”
53.22% of Zakynthians have been vaccinated with their first dose. Fully vaccinated is at 46.49% whilst the positive rate now stands at 0.47%. The 7 day MA cases per 100k is at 7.7.
The four-level preparedness map corresponds to 4 colours (red, orange, yellow and green) based on epidemiological indicators used by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
The epidemiological map will be produced weekly at the level of each Region and especially for the islands at the Municipality level.
The purpose of the epidemiological map is to inform Greeks and visitors to our country, as well as to link preparedness levels with public health measures.
The map is updated on a weekly basis by the team of epidemiologists of the Committee of Experts of the Ministry of Health in collaboration with EODY and the Ministry of Civil Protection, taking into account the following epidemiological indicators:
• 7-day moving average of cases per 100,000 inhabitants
• 14-day number of cases per 100,000 inhabitants
• Control positivity index
• Weekly percentage change of cases
• Number of active cases
• Age distribution of cases
• Weekly number of new hospitalizations per 100,000 inhabitants
• Weekly number of deaths per 100,000 inhabitants
• Vaccination coverage rate
• Active case reproduction rate (Rt)
• Health system occupancy
• Contact tracking analysis
• Mutation analysis
