The 20-year-old son of the 41-year-old woman who was murdered by her husband was found outside the courts of Zakynthos. The young man wanted to be “present” at the moment when his father would cross the threshold of the prosecutor in order to apologize for the crime that shocked the whole of Greece.
“I want to see his reaction, I don’t know… I came like this, I felt like I had to come, be here, see how this man did something like this,” said the 20-year-old, who can’t believe his father killed his mother. As he explained, he has contacted his siblings, who are at a relative’s house in Lamia and, according to what his cousin told him, his sister was sleeping and looking for their mother in her sleep.
He further stated that he had repeatedly tried to prevent this behavior from his father, but he would not listen. “He would get incoherent , he would come home and he would be unsettled, he wouldn’t listen to anyone, not even his children. He wasted his money where ever he thought fit, instead of helping, doing something better for his children. Only our mother worked two jobs to make ends meet… All the household expenses, everything, my mother supported such a person,” said the 20-year-old, among other things.
“I killed her because she was cheating on me,” says the murderer.
The 51-year-old murderer, when he was arrested by the Hellenic Police, allegedly told them that “I killed her because she was cheating on me”.
The perpetrator after murdering his wife left the house with the police launching a manhunt to track him down. Finally, he was found in the area of Marathia, in Keri, while the murder weapon, a kitchen knife was also found.
Shortly before he killed her, she sued him for her brutal beating.

The brutish husband, around 20:00p.m, began to beat her mercilessly, unleashing his sick fury on her. The woman in a miserable condition and after he had disappeared, managed to pull herself together and cross the threshold for Police help, for the second time and file a lawsuit against her tormentor.
The authorities began a seach for him and at 22:30p.m when the victim returned to the ground floor of the duplex in the Tsilivi area, she finds him in front of her. According to an eyewitness, a neighbor, the Albanian grabbed her by the hair and dragged her to the balcony shouting “I will kill you”.
He beat her fiercely and when the woman fought to save her life, the 49-year-old picked up a kitchen knife, starts stabbing furiously at the neck and chest and “takes” her life. After his act he disappears and shortly before 10a.m the following morning, he was arrested.
The brutal crime that took place in the village of Tsilivi has shocked the society of Zakynthos. According to police sources, the woman suffered stab wounds to her ribs and face, and was punched and kicked.
The president of the Community of Planos – Tsilivi Dionysis Giakoumelos spoke to protothema.gr about the brutal murder.
“The couple has been living permanently in the area for the last few years and in the first few years they never created a problem. The man worked in a hotel while also doing some farm work. Residents report that they had some friction with the 51-year-old recently, while the woman had filed a complaint for domestic violence.”
As Mr. Giakoumelos reports, on the day of the murder, “voices were heard”, but as he points out, “nobody expected this tragic outcome”.
The body of the 41-year-old will be transferred to her native Albania. Her funeral is scheduled for Friday, August 5, with family and friends mourning her loss.
