Zakynthos has been a huge draw for tourists from the Netherlands for many years. In a recent survey by the holiday and travel website Griekenland.net Belgium and Dutch tourists have voted Crete, Kos, and Zakynthos as their top three favourite Greek destinations for 2022. Around 1,224 people took part in a survey earlier this year, and the results have been revealed.
Over 18% of those who completed the survey picked Crete as an option for this year. An increase of 38% on last year. Zakynthos was recorded in second place, taking 14% of the vote, moving up one place from third position last year. Kos took 11% falling to third place behind Zakynthos.
Other locations that made the list from the survey are Lesvos in 4th place with 9% of votes. Samos and Rhodes share 5th place with 7% of the votes, and Karpathos and Kefalonia jointly share 6% of the votes. Santorini with 4%, Lefkada with 3% and Mykonos with 2% of the votes.
Other positive news is that the first Dutch flight arrived in Crete in February and more Dutch tourists are continuing to arrive in both Chania and Heraklion. The Greek islands were incredibly popular during school holidays for Dutch tourists and bookings for June, July and August are already looking good with the expectation that they will equal records numbers from those recorded in 2019.
It looks like that Zakynthos is as popular as ever with our Dutch fans and we look forward to seeing everyone on the island over the summer.
