Late in the evening yesterday a tragic event occured when a young boy was electrocuted while playing. First reports were of a twelve year old boy but as investigations take hold reports are now saying the boy is only nine years old.
A team from the Zakynthos Police Department and an expert are currently at the location where yesterday, Saturday 21/08/2021, a 9-year-old boy, who was playing with his friends next to his house, which borders the hotel in the center of Tsilivi (see the report here).
Police are reportedly investigating the incident. The property of the hotel whose lawyer is Panagiotis Kefallinos has been summoned.

The residents of the Tsilivi area in Zakynthos are devastated by the tragic death of a 9-year-old child. No one can believe that the little boy lost his life in such a tragic way while playing carefree hide and seek with his friends.
According to the residents of the area, the unpleasant incident happened in front of the eyes of the little friends of the unfortunate 9-year-old, who were playing hide and seek with him and immediately ran, shocked, to notify the parents of the unfortunate child, but also their families.
According to information, the air conditioning facilities were outside the hotel and unguarded, very close to the house and the neighborhood of the unfortunate 9-year-old. According to the same information, one of them, however, had a power leakage and when the child touched IT, he was killed instantly.
This is a great tragedy that we cannot believe at the moment. The family of the unfortunate 9-year-old are our friends and his parents are shocked at the moment. Last night, the children were playing hide and seek in their neighborhood. The 9-year-old went and hid behind the air conditioning facilities of a hotel, which is very close to his house, and was electrocuted. “Unfortunately, this happened in front of the eyes of his little friends, who ran in shock and informed the little boy’s family,” says the president of the Plano-Tsilivi community, Dionysis Giakoumelos, to protothema.gr.
According to ERT, the police have arrested three people, the owner of the hotel, the refrigerant and the electrician, who are responsible for the specific installation.
The ambulance crew failed to bring the unfortunate child back to life, plunging the small local community into grief. The unfortunate child was transported to the General Hospital of Zakynthos without a pulse. All the doctors tried their best to revive him, but unfortunately they could not do anything.
