The apology of the perpetrator who last Sunday killed his wife with a kitchen knife was completed yesterday at the District Attorney’s office.
The decision of his temporary detention at the detention center of Zakynthos was made until next Monday when it will be decided which penitentiary he will be placed.
Upon entering the courthouse, when asked by a journalist if he had anything to say, he apologized to his children.
The man has been charged with two felonies, that of attempted homicide and intentional homicide.
The interrogation lasted 5 hours, with the perpetrator citing psychiatric problems and that he acted in a rage, according to his lawyer, Mr. P. Kefallinos. In the video below, we see the lawyer mentioning that his client has had serious health problems which are confirmed by doctor’s reports in regards to his mental health. Reporters also asked if there was any regret in his actions in which the lawyer has said “of course he has, the problem is that he has a very leaden result, which unfortunately is so leaden, his wife has passed away, and there are three children, in which have become orphaned from their mother.”
When asked if the children want to see their father the lawyer replied ” That is something I do not want to ask or stress, if his children want to see him or if they don’t ever want to see him…it is an extremely difficult phase for the rest of his life…extremely difficult…in which that conversation I haven’t had nor would I like to, however, it does concern him how close his children will feel towards him.
The self-confessed perpetrator stabbed his wife to death last Sunday night in Tsilivi, Zakynthos.
The 40-year-old, before falling dead from her husband’s hands, had gone to the local police station in Zakynthos, where she once again reported her husband for violent and abusive behavior.
After she returned home and while the authorities were looking for her husband, he visited her at home and when she did not answer, he broke down the door.
Then he started beating her and she, in her attempt to escape, ran to the neighbor’s stairs, but the attacker caught up with her and was beating her furiously, before stabbing her.
