In 2019 the suggestion of an open mall actually became reality. Although many did not believe it and there were a few who even tried to bring obstacles. The Open Mall was finally included in the Operational Program “Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation 2014-2020” European Regional Development Fund with a total budget of 1,803,996.00.
It wasn’t long ago that Zakynthians faced chaos within the area.
A regular construction site had been set up on Tavoulari Street, in the center of Zakynthos, where the workers were working feverishly to place the cobblestones and to deliver the paving work in May of this year.
The open mall and the renovation of Tavoulari Street in Zakynthos will create a really beautiful shopping street, an attractive destination for walking and shopping, when completed.
Today the road was tarrred and cars allowed to drive through. Now, we have to wait and see when the rest of the street will be completed.
