THE PROGRAMME
The Holy Metropolis of Zakynthos, with a deep sense of responsibility, fully in line with the current health restrictions against the spread of Covid-19, announces the Program of the Sacred Sequences and Ceremonies during the three day celebration from 16th to 19th December 2021, so the of our Patron Saint, Saint Dionysios, according to the following program:
On Thursday, December 16, 2021, at 5 pm, there will be a Doxology with a procession of the Holy Relics of St. Dionysios inside the Temple and then a Great Episcopal Vespers will be celebrated.
On Friday, December 17, 2021, the eponymous day of the holiday, at 3 o’clock after midnight, the Holy Vigil will begin.
In the morning, at 7.30, the Orthros Sequence will begin and immediately afterwards there will be a Hierarchical Service.
At around 11 o’clock in the morning, weather permitting, a short procession of the Holy Relics will take place from St. Dionysios through Ioannou Logotheton, Kalvou, Doxarades streets and then back to Saint Dionysios church.
On Sunday, December 19, 2021, at 8.30 in the morning, there will be a Hierarchical Service and then, at 11, a procession of the seventh Relic of St. Dionysios inside the Temple and His deposition in the Holy Larnaca.
The formality of the holiday will be announced by the Philharmonic of the Municipality of Zakynthos, playing through the town of Zakynthos.
In the above Holy Communions and Ceremonies, the People and the Authorities are invited to attend in the established order.
Pious Christians are kindly requested to strictly follow the precautionary restrictions of Covid-19, ALL MUST wear a face mask, use a disinfectant liquid and keep a distance of one and a half meters between them.
The entrance to the Temple will be from the west gate of the propylaea, there will be a pilgrimage and a mandatory exit from the south gate. For those who want to attend the Holy Communions they will leave the pilgrimage and enter again through another door.
The church will remain open from 07.30 to 22.00 and up to the number of 200 people, will only be allowed
It is also recommended to use a mask outside the Temple for pilgrims and attendees.
The Holy Procession will be accompanied outside the Church by the Philharmonic of the Municipality of Zakynthos, Scout and Guide departments, delegations of Primary Schools, Gymnasiums, Lyceums and Technical Schools.
The Mayor of Zakynthos and the Deputy Regional Governor of Zakynthos are requested to take care of decorating of the city and the port. Also the Police Director and Habour Chief are responsible for maintenance of order during the celebrations.
