Zakynthos:- The island praised composer Timotheos Arvanitakis and the “Free Besieged” musical event. (1/8/21) (VIDEO)

Zakynthos with a standing ovation on Sunday night, 1/8/21 honoured the composer Timotheos Arvanitakis’ presentation, on the Hill of Strani. Perhaps one of the most important and robust works of his career, the “Free Besieged”, in which is based on the national poet Dionysios Solomos writings.

Mr Arvantitakis work was to honour those who fought in the resistance, fought for freedom in the year 1821. Last night being symbolic of that year 1st August, 2021 (1821).

It was perhaps the most important event of the year.  The people of Zakynthos had been waiting for a long time and the most well-organized presence of the work by the composer himself and his collaborators seemed to have paid off. The crowd gave an enthusiastic approval of the event which left many shouting out for more.

On the occasion of the anniversary of the 200 years since the beginning of the Greek Revolution, Zakynthos raised its Musical Height and thunder was heard as far as Messolonghi.
