Hundreds disembarked from the Celebrity Constellation cruise ship yesterday in Zakynthos Town, on a particularly busy day as we are in the heart of the tourist season.
The situation on the beach was chaotic and the complaints we received were countless, both from residents and businessmen.
The area towards the Pier of Agios Nikolaos but also the whole of the coastal Lombardou,Avenue up to the traffic lights of the bridge of Ag. Haralambous, was constantly jammed, which caused concern about what will follow in the month of August when there will obviously be more people.
The Celebrity Constellation cruise ship arrived on our island in the morning, a few minutes after 8, coming from the port of Piraeus. It carried 1391 passengers and 693 crew members. It left in the afternoon at 19:20p.m with its next stop in Ravenna, Italy.
Today we have the extraordinary arrival of another cruise ship on our island and it is the Elysium.
The local authorities should take measures to regulate the traffic and we should see policemen and harbor guards on the streets. At the point where the tourists arrive from the cruise ship there must be no parked vehicles not allowing the tourist buses to pass and in addition the entire length of the coast needs policing.
