The Ferry boat that departed yesterday morning from Zakynthos returned immediately. The first scheduled route from Zakynthos to Kyllini at 07:45 had to return for a patient.
The ship “Fior di Levante” departed normally from the port. However, on the way, a passenger became ill and the captain notified. Without a second thought, they returned to Zakynthos (08:25). As the hospital was closer (about 5-10 minutes) and that an ambulance could not come immediately to pick up the passenger at the port of Kyllini, lead to the captain’s decision.
The passenger, a retired priest, was travelling to Athens where he had a scheduled appointment to see a cardiologist. Nevertheless, at sea, he fainted, as a result of which the captain was notified, and putting human life above all else, he returned the ship to Zakynthos.
The elderly man is currently out of danger at the cardiology clinic of the General Hospital of Zakynthos and as soon as the conditions allow, he will be taken to a hospital in Patras.
We wish the man well! Whilst congratulations to the Captain and the crew of the ship, as well as to the Levante Ferries. Once again proving that a man’s health is above all!
