Corfu:- – “Athena” causing havoc! (videos)

The streets of Corfu have been turned into rivers, as the bad weather “Athena” has started to hit the islands of the Northern Ionian since Wednesday night.

The area of Spilia in Corfu has already been flooded, while there are problems in the streets of Potamos.

Power outages have occured in Corfu due to bad weather leaving  various parts of Corfu without electricity . Civil protection warns residents to avoid unnecessary travel and in case it is necessary to leave their home, they should be very careful while driving.

Zakynthos & Κefalonia:-

The ships in the ports of Zakynthos and Kefalonia will be moored, due to the strong winds that blow from the morning in the Ionian.

The ban for the ships of the ferry lines Zakynthos-Kyllini and Kefalonia-Kyllini is valid until 18:00, when a new update is expected.

In anticipation of the dangerous weather phenomena, the Fire Services of the areas where the phenomena are expected to occur, have been put on high alert, while it is stressed that further escalation of the mobilization, if required, with dispersion of personnel and vehicles, will be immediate in order to any problems.

According to the POSEIDON forecast system, our island is expected to be affected in the coming hours. In fact, the forecast of meteorologists includes that a large volume of water will fall.

 

Reminder.

It is reminded that during the day, the phenomena in the Ionian and the mainland will be locally intense, with emphasis on the island parts of the Ionian, Epirus, Western Sterea, Western Macedonia and Northwestern Thessaly, where they will have increased duration.
