Greece:- Thanos Plevris: The announcements for lockdown and vaccinated – What will apply to catering and entertainment from this Saturday.

The new daily life and the return to normalcy were described by the Minister of Health, Thanos Plevris, announcing what will apply from now on for vaccinated and unvaccinated but also for lockdowns.

The mini lockdowns as we called them are over and the focus on and fun will be free for those vaccinated without any restrictions even in the red areas. The measures will be valid for 15 days and will be re-evaluated. The first phase of their implementation will begin on Saturday 09/10/2021.

The covid map will continue to take on different colors around Greece, but as the Minister of Health said, this will be done only for informational reasons.

Explaining the new reality, the Minister of Health Thanos Plevris said that the coronavirus is no longer something unknown as there are vaccines and it can be treated.

Trust in the committee.

“The committee is the scientific body that the political leadership respects and they have given a non-profit struggle with opinions and it is our close collaborator and remains as an instrument of the ministry. It will give us the general guidelines for deciding measures. Their validity will be for 15 days. “The existing restrictions exist and will be reconsidered in their entirety,” he added. Noting that any restrictions that have been applied to other areas must be abided by up until Saturday 9th October, 2021.

The red zone areas.

For the red areas he said that no more measures will apply but we will know the epidemiological situation of each area. “There is no longer a traffic ban measure and entertainment and catering will work normally,” the minister stressed.

He continued: “In restaurants where we have fully vaccinated people there will be no restrictions. The staff will observe all measures such as the use of a mask and personal protection. “There is complete freedom for the vaccinated in the entertainment venues”, he stressed.

For open spaces we will have full operation and the framework will be very strict for those who have not been vaccinated or have not become ill. For mixed spaces the restrictions apply as they are.

All other vaccinated areas will have limited mask use and all will be reviewed every 15 days.

Mr. Plevris also said that we are in the process of being able to take such measures in order to take back our lives.

Taking the floor, Deputy Health Minister Mina Gaga called on all citizens to be vaccinated.

The goal is to take our lives back and move slowly towards normalcy, safely taking care of each other, said the Deputy Minister of Health.

She urged everyone to be vaccinated, as she said where there is high vaccination coverage there are few hospitalizations and little need for ICU. She cited the example of the 4th RAE, which is in the “red”, saying that currently 225 patients are treated with covid-19 and 55 in ICU and only 2 are vaccinated.

“We do not want to impose the vaccine on anyone, but we really ask everyone to be vaccinated”, she stressed and reiterated that the vaccine is safe and has no side effects, on the contrary the disease is serious, it often leads to death. She even mentioned that in Northern Greece a young man lost the battle for life, noting “we do not want to have such deaths, it is very easy to prevent them by vaccination”.

Ms. Gaga added that vaccination does not mean that it will cover 100% of all people and that no one will get sick, but certainly the chance of getting a serious illness is 20 times lower, there are fewer deaths, less suffering.

She also referred to the pressure that the health system has been receiving for almost two years, which is “intense, especially in Northern Greece” and asked everyone to protect the health system as well.

She pointed out that the ministry will do what it can to “have staff in the hospitals”, but it is important not to have these many cases that we had last year.

“In these conditions, providing quality care is always difficult and also, remember that in addition to the people with coronavirus, who of course we will take care of, we have all the other patients who also need to have access to the hospital. “The more we pay attention to each other, the better it will be”, concluded the Deputy Minister of Health.
