Donation to our Hospital will improve orthopaedic clinic.

A well-known Greek businessman will donate to the hospital a state-of-the-art X-ray machine necessary for the reopening of closed orthopaedic surgeries, according to Zakynthos MP D. Aktypis. Indeed, Mr Aktypis has stated that the money intended for the purchase of the X-ray machine will be used to digitize the hospital’s radiographic section (mammography digitization).

As part of the MP’s efforts to improve the hospital’s services, he met with a well-known Greek businessman who agreed to donate to the hospital a state-of-the-art radiology equipment necessary to reopen the closed orthopaedic surgeries. It is worth noting that the Hospital had a corresponding machine which, however, due to its aging, did not function for a long time, making it impossible for orthopaedic surgeries to be performed. Mr. Aktypis points out: “Thanks to this donation the orthopaedic surgeries will be reopened and the suffering of Zakynthian citizens will be significantly reduced.” As a result of the donation, a significant amount of money was released to purchase the X-ray machine. This amount was decided, after the Member’s contacts with the relevant bodies, to be used for the digitization of the radiological department of the hospital (digitization of a mammogram, etc.).

Call for orthopaedics

Following a relative suggestion by the Member to the Governor of the 6th District, I. Karvelis, there was an immediate filling of the vacant post of Assistant Orthopaedist in Zakynthos General Hospital. This is the post that had been vacant after the Member’s election in last July’s parliamentary elections.

Following the Member’s discussions with Mr Karvelis, the latter was immediately mobilized so that the announcement of the post could be made and that the relevant procedures for its filling were swiftly initiated. Regarding the issue, in a statement issued by the Member of Parliament, he said: “The main concern of both the MP and the commander of the 6th Ministry are, after all, to be better, more efficient but also to serve his patients faster at the General Hospital of Zakynthos. As the Member stated, “We will do whatever is needed to make the Hospital work better. We will leave no room for other excuses. The proper, unobtrusive and effective operation, not only of the orthopaedics, but of the whole hospital, is non-negotiable for us. The Member’s interventions to substantially upgrade the hospital’s services will continue uninterrupted until the desired results are achieved. “
