Greece:- New measures starting 16 July, what to expect.

New measures: Compulsory vaccinations and summer seats with application of Covid Free GR

The specialization of the measures announced by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, proceeded by the Ministers of Health, Development and Digital Governance. Fines and obligated holidays for those who are not vaccinated. Five-day leave for those who are in the services after vaccination.

The Minister of Health Vassilis Kikilias, the Minister of Development Adonis Georgiadis and the Minister of Digital Government Kyriakos Pierrakakis made joint announcements for the specialization of what Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced in his speech.

The measures concern the introduction of compulsory vaccination in nursing homes and health care centres, as well as the operation of closed areas only for vaccinated people. The beginning is made with the direct vaccination of the employees in the care units of the elderly, which is the most vulnerable category.

The decision was taken along with new measures for catering and specifically for the operation of indoor entertainment venues only for vaccinated people, at a time when the government, after the freedom pass, is planning other incentives for vaccination.

Kikilias: Compulsory vaccination of workers in nursing homes and structures – The fines

More specifically, during the briefing, as the Minister of Health, Vassilis Kikilias, said, the completion of the first vaccination of those working in nursing homes and support structures for the disabled, should be completed by August 16. Vaccination of those who live there is also mandatory. If they do not get vaccinated, they will be suspended from work and their salary will be stopped.

As the minister explained: “Anyone who refuses to be vaccinated or does not complete the vaccination cycle will abstain from work without pay.”

Regarding the fines in case of non-compliance, the Minister of Health stated that they will be 50,000 euros and in case of recurrence 200,000 euros.

The Minister of Health, Vassilis Kikilias, also said that all the staff of public and private hospitals – clinics, by September 1, should have been given the first dose of a vaccine.

Specifically, a circular is expected for the hospitals in the next period.

“Legislation will come into practice so that public bodies will hire staff to replace those who are not vaccinated,” said V. Kikilias.

Three-member committees are created by NHS doctors and academics, per health district, who will evaluate requests from those required for vaccination exemption for proven health reasons, following a special list of exceptions to be determined by the National Committee.

Adonis Georgiadis: The measures focused on

At the same time, as Mr. Georgiadis said, business owners in outdoor entertainment can choose either to operate either for vaccinated only or mixed, ie to serve either only vaccinated or not to separate and operate with all precautionary measures.
