Earthquake now 5.3 Richter between Zakynthos and Kefalonia
An earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale occurred in the sea between Kefalonia and Zakynthos, according to a preliminary assessment by the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens.
The first assessment was of a magnitude 5.3 earthquake.
The epicenter of the earthquake, which occurred at 10:36 am on Thursday, is located 57 kilometers southwest of Lixouri.
The focal depth is estimated at 11.6 kilometers.
According to an assessment by the Euro-Mediterranean Center (EMSC), the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.2 on the Richter scale.
A tweet from seismologist Jose Ribeiro stated:-
