Due to being unable to travel abroad in 2021, many UK Residents enjoyed a summer at home exploring UK resorts and beaches. Park Dean Resorts were curious to see how many UK beaches compared to popular and famous beaches throughout the world. So, they set out to investigate.
It was done by comparing the type and tone of sand, whether it be golden sands or those darker in colour. The type of sand such as softer grain or pebbles was also considered. Interestingly they were able to match several UK beaches with some well-known international ones such as Zakynthos!
Yes, you heard that right. Our very own Navagio Beach was on the list!
An Iconic beach, Navagio Beach doesn’t look like a UK seaside town at all. The study however discovered that the UK seaside town of Bournemouth has sand that’s almost identical in colour to the sand you find at Navagio. Amazing considering there are over 2,000 miles between the two!
As comparisons go, no one would ever have expected that Bournemouth in the UK would be compared to Navagio beach in Zakynthos, but it’s an interesting study that has been done and makes you realise that sometimes beaches and places in the world can be connected by the strangest and most interesting of things.
