the programme of the three day celebrations of Agio Dionysios of Zakynthos.
During the three days from 23 to 26 August 2021, Zakynthos with all formality and measaurs to prevent the transmission of Covid-19, celebrates the transfer of His Holy relics from Strofades.

On Monday, August 23, 2021, at exactly 11.00 a.m Our holy Saint will be removed from his chambers and be placed among his people.
At 19.00 pm, the Descent of His Eminence the Metropolitan of Zakynthos from the Holy Monastery to the Holy Temple will take place. Immediately afterwards will follow a Doxology with a Procession of the seventh Tabernacle of Saint Dionysios inside the Temple and then a Great Vespers will be performed.
On Tuesday, August 24, 2021, the eponymous day of the feast, at 02.00a.m ( after midnight 23/8) a holy Vigil will begin.
In the morning, at 7.30, the Orthros Sequence will begin and immediately afterwards the Hierarchical Service will be performed.
On the same day, at 19.30p.m, there will be a Prayer before the Saint at the Propylaea of the Temple.
The Litany will NOT take place.
On Thursday, August 26, 2021, at 08.30a.m there will be a Hierarchical Service and then, at 11.00a.m, the procession of the seventh Tabernacle of St. Dionysios inside the Holy Temple and His deposition in the Holy Larnaca.
In the above Holy Communions and Ceremonies, the People and the Authorities are invited to attend during the established order.
Pious Christians are kindly requested to strictly follow the precautionary instructions of Covid-19, MUST wear a face mask, use a disinfectant liquid and keep a distance of one and a half meters between them. The entrance to the Temple will be as follows: From the south gate there will be a row for pilgrimage ONLY and a mandatory exit from the same gate. From the ramp for the disabled there will be a provision for people who will enter the Temple for church services, half an hour before the start of the Holy Communions and up to the number of 100 people. It is also recommended to use a mask outside the Temple for pilgrims and attendees.
This year due to the pandemic the Saint Dionysios market will not be open.
****NOTE Zakynthos Informer would like to remind our visitors that on Monday 23/08 at 11.00a.m bells, gun shots and ferry boat horns will sound across the Island a repeat will also be on Thursday the 26/8 at the same time.
On the 24th, the day of the celebration fireworks are on display in the evening.
