It is worth noting that since October 1, 280 cases have been recorded on our island. In fact, in the last two weeks, the average number of cases detected daily has doubled. At the same time, these days 7 people are being treated at the General Hospital of Zakynthos, at the covid clinic, while two patients are being treated at the ICU. It should be noted, however, that not all patients have been vaccinated. Unfortunately, four people lost their lives on our island from October 1, while they were positive for the coronavirus.
All the above elements brought, as it was logical, Zakynthos again “in the red”, for the third time since the pandemic. The chairman of the Infectious Diseases Committee of the General Hospital and Vice President of the Medical Association of Zakynthos, Athanasios Markou, draws the attention of our fellow citizens, emphasizing that there is a gradual increase in cases in recent weeks and adding that we should follow strict measures to counter attack the situation. He also noted that the scientific community is concerned about the increase in cases at this time, as good weather conditions still prevail on the island and possibly, when the temperature drops and the concentrations of people indoors increase, the cases increase even more.
