Regretful for his heinous act, the 49-year-old wife killer appeared before the Criminal Prosecutor of Zakynthos today, who requested and received a deadline to apologize before the competent investigator on Friday (August 5).
The 49-year-old was charged with attempted murder and intentional homicide.
Since early morning, citizens had gathered outside the courthouse, among them several women, who were holding placards about the “femicides”.
Among the people was the 19-year-old son of the victim, who was waiting to see his father in person after the heinous crime he committed and when he learned he was inside the building he tried to approach him.
The self-confessed perpetrator stabbed his wife to death last Sunday night in Tsilivi, Zakynthos.
The 40-year-old, before falling dead from her husband’s hands, had gone to the local police station in Zakynthos, where she once again reported her husband for violent and abusive behavior.
After she returned home and while the authorities were looking for her husband, he visited her at home and when she did not answer, he broke down the door.
Then he started beating her and she, in her attempt to escape, ran to the neighbor’s stairs, but the attacker caught up with her and was beating her furiously, while also throwing a flower pot at her, before stabbing her.
Then the 50-year-old disappeared, while the police and an EKAV ambulance arrived at the scene and took the unfortunate 40-year-old.
A chilling detail is the fact that at the time of the removal the victim’s minor children returned home. A neighbor managed to stop the 8-year-old girl but the 14-year-old boy of the family saw his mother in this state
