Zakynthos once again in shock to hear the news of a young man being beaten as one local reporter states:-
Before the ink dries – even from the Athenian media – about the episode of beating a foreigner in Laganas and the meeting called by the Municipality about the deviants in the area, after the visit to our island of the ambassador of the United Kingdom in Greece, one more incident came to stir the waters and reopen the debate about young British tourists and the incidents that are caused for various reasons.
The most important thing, at this moment, is the young man, who yesterday had to be admitted to the country’s largest nursing institution, to get well and leave behind him this bad page in his life that was written during his vacation in Zakynthos.
Once again, there was an episode of beating between tourists, while a few minutes ago they were having fun. The reasons for the fight have not yet been made known, but in any case, a minor, a tourist was also involved in the episode, who is being detained.
A beach bar in Mykonos was recently “turned into a ring”. In fact, the wild brawl was captured on video and three people were arrested. These are incidents that happen everywhere and obviously they are neither the first nor the last.
As we said, the most important thing is for the 22-year-old to overcome the danger.
No one can predict where, when and how these incidents will occur among young tourists to take concrete measures.
The causes that “help” situations sometimes get out of control have been analyzed millions of times and again we will come to the same conclusion.
The tourism model of Zakynthos today is financially based to a large extent on the young people who come just to have fun. Controls by the authorities are necessary so that situations do not get out of hand.
From now on, we hope to have fewer such bad moments…
