Zakynthos:- Only two vaccination centers will operate in Zakynthos for the coronavirus vaccine

Two vaccination centers will operate in Zakynthos

In a recent report in our local newspaper HMERA, it was stated that two centres only will be operating in regards to the coroanvirus vaccine.

The lack of staff regarding the vaccination centres on our island has drastically reduced their number, since eventually two will operate. One in the Health Centre of Zakynthos and one in the Health Centre of Katastari, as informed by the president of K.O.M.Y. Zakynthos and Scientific Head of the Efi Damoulaki Health Centre.

“Eventually there will not be five as originally planned but due to lack of staff there will be two. One will operate at the Health Centre and the other at the Katastari Health Centre. We are ready from equipment. Talking to HMERA ME Pyriohou stated:-  “There are some last things that need to be done”. In regards to the staff that will undertake the vaccination, she pointed out that she is very experienced and has already passed a relevant seminar to know how to follow the required procedures.

Each patient will need 30-45 minutes to complete this procedure. What is important is to watch the patient for at least half an hour after the vaccination in a place that we will supervise and from there we will move on. We know exactly how the vaccine will be prepared. Each bottle will be for five doses. We estimate that in about 30-45 minutes we will be finished with each patient. “It is essential to monitor the patient after the vaccination,” said Ms. Pyriohou.

Conversely, the countdown has began for the arrival of the first batch of vaccines on our island, which according to information is placed on January 3, 2021, while 132 people will be vaccinated by the General Hospital of Zakynthos and then the vulnerable groups and citizens according to the defined from the Ministry of Health and EODYY.
The vaccinations will start on Monday, January 4 and will be given to 25 people every day, until Thursday, when the last 27 vaccines of the first batch that will arrive in Zakynthos will be given.
From there on, depending on the interest that will be from the other employees in the hospital, but also the planning of the 6th RAE for the vaccination of the vulnerable groups, new dates will be set on which the next batches will come to the island.
According to the information provided by the Vaccination Officer for the medical staff of the Zakynthos Hospital Athanasios Markou, 132 health professionals have so far expressed interest from the General Hospital of Zakynthos to be vaccinated, but the number will be changed because as everything was done in one day.

As Zakynthos Informer has mentioned in other posts, first health workers will be vaccinated and then citizens will be next. You may want to read the below posts in regards to makine appointments :- How to make an appointment for the coronavirus vaccine
