In an effort to organise more recycling campaigns the Recycling clothes the Students’ Association of the Environment Department of the Ionian University, is collecting textile materials which will be sent to the recycling company recycom in Athens.
With the motto “Together we can make a difference”, the comapny treats recycling issues not as a fad, but with a deep sense of necessity.
In collaboration with the university the environmental group “Clean Waters of Zakynthos” have also joined in the efforts to collect items and have given the following information.
Recycling clothes.
Our club, in collaboration with the Students’ Association of the Environment Department of the Ionian University, collects textile materials which will be sent to the recycling company recycom in Athens. There, sorting will take place where the largest percentage of clothes are distributed to vulnerable groups who need them and the rest are sent abroad for recycling and creating new products.
Points where you can bring your bags:
1.Foskolou and Agios Eleftherios 11 corner (driving art, opposite the parking lot).
2. Tae Kwon Do Sports Club
Alcimachus Zakynthos Stravopodis 26.
3. cinefoskolos.
4. Claudianos Eugenidou Bookstore 11
5. Revoil gas station in Tsilivi.
-We accept clothing, footwear, accessories (such as bags, belts, hats, scarves), home linen (curtains, throw overs, fabric tablecloths, pillowcases)
– We do not accept fabric scraps (retalia), we do not accept carpets
– We accept items in a condition that can be worn again, but also worn items for recycling.
– All items should be clean, dry, free of odors and mold, and in clean-tied bags.
We note that clothes are also collected at the Social Grocery Store of the Municipality of Zakynthos, 20 Tebonera Street, mainly children’s clothes but also for their parents in EXCELLENT condition, with which we are in cooperation where we will receive the rest of their sorting which will be sent for recycling.
We hope for everyone’s cooperation, so that this year we don’t see images of clothes scattered outside the garbage in the green bins..
We hope that soon we will see red or purple bins on our island!
The above 5 collection points are valid until November 15th.
So, there you have it. If you haven’t had the chance to clear out your wardrobes then you better get started. The deadline is TUESDAY 15th November.
