In a press release by the Zakynthos Commercial Association a suggestion has been made for chemists to open on Sundays and during holidays. As the press release follows:-

Optional operation of pharmacies Sundays and holidays during the summer season.
Life and daily routine in a tourist area such as our island has different requirements and needs than another undeveloped tourist areas of our country.
The fast pace of life and work every summer in Zakynthos, where the largest percentage (population) of our fellow citizens live and work in populated areas,
A lot of people, due to the tourist features of these areas, has created new needs and requirements, which are not observed during the winter months and we believe it needs to be addressed.
One such need for the summer period is the daily operation of pharmacies in tourist areas since a series of simple incidents could be dealt with immediately without the burden of the emergency department of our hospital, simply, quickly and economically. Headaches, insect bites, slight sunburn, covid test and a number of other simple cases would be resolved quickly without travel, without queuing at overnight pharmacies on Sundays and holidays, if these stores were open daily. As a Commercial Association we have received many requests from both our fellow Zakynthians and foreign visitors to our island, for the opening of pharmacies on Sundays and holidays in tourist areas.
We believe that the pharmaceutical association of Zakynthos will see positively the above request, need and will allow the optional operation of the stores as members wish, thus supporting the image of our place as well as the essential service of employees and tourists both in the city and in tourist areas whose population multiplies during the summer.Yours sincerely
