Our environmental volunteers need your help!!
As you know in Zakynthos volunteering is not such a common thing; however over the last few years we have seen volunteer groups trying to make an improvement where our Government fails. Two of these groups are the environmental groups, “zaCLEANthos” and the Green Activist “Υλήεσσα”.
They have been on campaigns around the island to keep, not only our island clean but the waters that surround it. With Volunters around Zakynthos taking action within the groups’ actions, either being local businesses in which provide materials or individuals that live on the Island or are visiting for holidays, helping in any way they can. All joining in on their actions or helping out with materials needed for an action to take place.
Recently, the groups earnt a small boat, thanks to a donation worth 30,000 by Mr Martino, the teams of volunteers were able to keep most of our beaches and coves clean of rubbish. Throughout the summer months they had also been very active in providing information about how we can help our Island home. Also during the tourist season to help keep our beautiful beaches clean, whilst reminding our visitors that it is our environment that we, Zakynthians, need to focus on, to keep the beauty she offers. The teams are there when no one else will act, it is volunteers who act within these types of groups that are truly a God send. They are the force behind CHANGE!! At it is change they we all want for a better life and for a better future for our children and grandchildren!.
THEY NEED OUR HELP!!!
As the groups do not rely on ANY support financially from Government organizations; they are volunteers in the true sense of the word! Their goal is to have a second hand truck, like in the photo below and is asking for our help in raising money to buy one.
Through our support, we are not only helping them to continue their work but in turn we ARE helping ourselves! Let’s get together and help our home, our environment, our holiday destination.
